Bring the party to you, with these fun games for Android and iPhone.
Rather than facing the bustling nightlife of your hometown, why not opt for something more civilised? A night in with your nearest and dearest could be the best way to see in 2018. But, of course, you’ll need some party games…
Here are some of the most fun games for Android and iPhone, available to download right now.
1) Heads Up!
Here’s a classic party game that everyone will love. Heads Up! is extremely simple to play. Just pick a category, hold the phone up on your forehead (with the screen facing the rest of the room) and then start playing.
Your party will see names (of films, animals, celebs, songs, or even accents) pop up on the screen, and all they have to do is get you to guess the answer by acting it out or giving you clues.
For each answer you get right, you flip your phone down, and for each you get wrong or pass, you flip it up. Oh, and of course, you have a time limit.
Heads Up! was actually created by US TV host Ellen DeGeneres; you may have seen her play it on her show (see above). It just so happens to be one of our favourite party games.
2) HQ Trivia
Who doesn’t love a good old quiz game? HQ Trivia has fast become one of the most popular new game apps on iTunes. Basically, the idea is that you all answer as many questions as possible. When you get one wrong, you’re out. It’s that simple.
But wait just a minute, there’s an added bonus here. You can win real money as you play. That means that if you all play the game together this New Year’s Eve, you have the chance to make yourself a little extra cash. Nice.

3) Evil Apples
Here’s a gaming app for fans of Cards Against Humanity. Evil Apples is a game in which your only aim is to make your pals giggle. Once a question card has been drawn, you just have to pick your answers from the cards that you have.
What’s more, Evil Apples never gets old! There are more than 4,000 answers packed into the game. That means that you should be able to keep playing this one for hours and hours without ever getting the same answer more than a couple of times. Phew.
4) Psych! Outwit Your Friends
Psych! Outwit Your Friends is made by the same people who created Heads Up! but it’s a whole different system to get your head around. Before you begin, all party members need to download it to their phone…
When you get started, you’ll all be asked a series of questions on your phones. Each of you can give your own answer. Next, you get a chance to see everyone else’s answers, and you all have to pick which one you think is right.
The aim of the game, as you may imagine, is to get as many correct answers as possible. If you manage to do that, you’ll have officially outwitted your friends and you can laud it over them for the rest of the evening. Of course, you don’t have to, but it’s always fun!
Again, to play Spaceteam, everyone will need to download it on their phones or tablets.
When you start playing, you’ll be faced with a control panel. You need to make sure that the spacecraft flies well enough and reaches its destination safely. The idea is that you all work together as a team to get the job done. (Spoiler: You all win or no one wins!)
You get a series of tasks to complete, from ‘wash socks’ to ‘burn toast’, and you have to complete all of the above to fly the ship. Honestly, it’s a very addictive and fun game.
